Capital University Hosts Scientific Seminar on “Healthy Fasting for Women: The New Food Pyramid”
The Department of Maternal and Newborn Health Nursing at the Faculty of Nursing – Capital University, in cooperation with the Youth Welfare Department, organized a scientific seminar entitled “Healthy Fasting for Women: The New Food Pyramid.” The seminar was held on Monday, March 9, 2026, at Prof. Aisha Awad Hall at the university.
The seminar was held under the patronage of Prof. Afaf Salah Abdelmohsen, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing; Prof. Lamia Ismail Keshk, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs; Prof. Zeinab Hussein Ali, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development; and Prof. Shaimaa Hassan Mohamady, Head of the Department of Maternal and Newborn Health Nursing.
The seminar addressed several important topics related to women’s health during the holy month of Ramadan, including the principles of healthy fasting and key nutritional guidelines to help women maintain good health while fasting. It also highlighted the concept of the new food pyramid and its importance in achieving balanced nutrition.
The seminar featured lectures and contributions from distinguished experts, including:
Sheikh Abdullah Fathi – on Islamic jurisprudential aspects of fasting
Prof. Hanadi Shiha – Professor at the National Nutrition Institute
Dr. Mayada Hazem – International Consultant in Breastfeeding
Assist. Prof. Dr. Doaa Shehta Said
The event was attended by a number of faculty members and students and aimed to raise health and nutritional awareness among female students, while promoting proper concepts of healthy fasting for women to help maintain their well-being during the holy month of Ramadan.
